Ondato named among the UK’s fastest-growing companies in the new Financial Times ranking
October 1, 2026 – Ondato, a compliance technology provider offering an all-in-one platform for identity, risk, and customer journey across IDV/KYC, AML and age verification, has been named among the UK’s 150 fastest-growing companies in a new ranking published today by the Financial Times and Statista.
UK’s Fastest-Growing Companies 2027 is the first ranking of its kind, and Ondato now finds itself listed alongside some of the UK’s best-known businesses.
Making the Financial Times 150 list meant surviving one of the toughest stretches in recent UK business history. Between 2022 and 2025, companies had to outgrow soaring energy bills, geopolitical shocks and a revolving door of domestic politics – and still post standout revenue growth. Even the company ranked 150th grew by 22.7 percent. Fittingly, fintech, financial services and insurance make up the largest share of the list – sectors closely aligned with Ondato’s core market.
The full results go live at FT.com on October 1, with the special report following in print on October 15.
Banks, payment providers, and social media platforms in 192 countries now rely on Ondato’s technology. The company was founded in Vilnius, Lithuania, in 2018 by Liudas Kanapienis and Andrej Vistorskij, who had grown frustrated with customer intelligence and risk checks that were slow and simple to circumvent while working on fintech projects of their own. In eight years, that frustration has turned into a company of more than 150 people, which has verified over 40 million users.
There are two main forces that are driving that growth. Regulators are introducing stricter requirements around online identity and age verification. The UK’s Online Safety Act and Germany’s Youth Protection Act are part of that shift, while several Asian markets are moving towards real-name requirements for online accounts. At the same time, the fraud these checks are designed to prevent is becoming harder to detect: the number of AI-generated deepfake files circulating online has risen sixteen times in just two years – from 500,000 to 8 million.
This isn’t the first time independent bodies have taken notice of Ondato’s growth. The company has appeared on the Financial Times’ FT1000 list of Europe’s fastest-growing companies for three consecutive years, while in 2025, its age-estimation solution was tested by the US National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) for compliance with established requirements for facial analysis technologies.
